For most people, having a day off was quite welcome, but Snake wasn’t like most people. He needed stimulation, something to occupy his mind and body with, and the more skill that required, the better.

To him, having nothing to do could quickly become mind-numbing, and if that state lasted too long and he ran out of tasks, free days weren’t recreational at all but made him irritable and stressed.

So today, he tried to keep himself occupied. First, he took Boomer for a long ride, guessing that his horse disliked inactivity just as much as he did. When he returned home, he had a quick lunch and started cleaning his place properly, and when he was done with the inside, he turned to garden work.

He was halfway through weeding the area around his front door when he realized there was not much more left to do and still a long evening ahead of him. Just great.

It had been busy months for Snake, months that consisted of lots of traveling, meeting, working. Things went well, but with the end of the year approaching, he decided it was time for a well-deserved break.

However, Snake had a quite different idea of what made for relaxing holidays than most people did, and thus he remembered the bet he had made with Giovan a while ago. He hadn't forgotten about it, of course, but he had been busy and he knew that people who considered themselves safe presented a much easier target. Therefore he had waited.

He had taken his time and spent some weeks tracking and observing Janie, intent on not being discovered too early. It hadn't been much of a challenge since all he had to do was to track his brother who recently had begun meeting with the girl all the time. What a nice coincidence.

This night, he decided the time had come. He had followed both of them once again to that odd, yellow boat, waiting patiently until they finally had gone aboard. They vanished inside, and then Snake teleported aboard, too, just as the boat started moving. Blades extended and his trusty blaster in one hand, he grinned at Janie, ignoring Julian for now.

"Hello there."

ooc: For now I'd say the posting order is - Janie, Julian, Snake?

Snake wasn't one to take things slow, and there still were a number of things -- and of people -- on his agenda. Phoenix, still, he wouldn't give up on that one. Janie who he was sure he could kill. His brother, of course. His species.

So many things to do.

Nevertheless, there was no need to rush things either. Tonight was time for a little break, for musing about past achievements and planning his further actions. So he sat on the couch in his comfortable apartment, courtesy of Vahl, with a laptop and a glass of good wine within reach, looking forward to a long, relaxed night without any interruptions.

Precisely a week after his meeting with Giovan, Snake left his place as soon as it got dark and went to their meeting point.
It was a bar he quite liked, dark and usually filled with enough people and background noise so that conversations would be hard to overhear. Also, they had good drinks.

So Snake ordered a bottle of good wine and waited at a table, eager to hear what news Giovan got regarding his brother and to share his own story.

ooc: After this.

After Snake's return from his very unusual but highly satisfying mission on Kaldoa, he had been in an extraordinary good mood for a while. But he hadn't forgotten about that nice little deal he had made a few days ago, the one involving Phoenix' friend. He wasn't sure if Vahl's bounty on Phoenix' head was still up after the recent events, but even if it wasn't, Snake wouldn't just let it go. His issues with Phoenix were personal now, and Snake wouldn't forego this perfect opportunity to trouble him.

And so he got his gear ready and teleported to the hotel Giovan had mentioned, right in front of Janie's door.

Knock, knock.

Snake was dissatisfied with the situation. Twice he had been so close to catch Phoenix -- and the five million -- and twice he had failed. If this crazy feral hadn't been around the last time ...

But there was no use brooding over past failures when he could go out and try again. The only thing that was missing was a trace of Phoenix, or a plan on how to capture him. But ideas always came easiest to him when he was on the move, so that's what he did tonight -- he roamed the streets, thinking, randomly looking for tonight's dinner or something else to busy himself with.

Snake had lost count of how many times he had paced the house and the surrounding garden, constantly looking for a possibility to escape.
There had to be way through that weird barrier that kept him imprisoned, and he would find it. Even if he had to dig his way out.

Which is exactly what he's been doing for the past hour now: Digging a hole into the soil with his bare hands, angrily cursing every now and then.

Snake knew that he was close. He hadn't found his quarry yet, but he had found people who were willing to lie for the man, and that meant that he had to be somewhere nearby.

At least that was what he made of his recent encounters - with the guy who claimed that he had met Julian by coincidence, and the girl who was obviously not telling the truth either.

Now he had a possibly fake address which could be trap, and a reassurance that he wouldn't walk straight into it - easy to capture and maybe even a friend of Julian.

So, on the next evenings he waited in the place where he had met Rosalie last time - well hidden and patiently.
