Winter holidays, Snake-style -- rp for a_time_slip

It had been busy months for Snake, months that consisted of lots of traveling, meeting, working. Things went well, but with the end of the year approaching, he decided it was time for a well-deserved break.

However, Snake had a quite different idea of what made for relaxing holidays than most people did, and thus he remembered the bet he had made with Giovan a while ago. He hadn't forgotten about it, of course, but he had been busy and he knew that people who considered themselves safe presented a much easier target. Therefore he had waited.

He had taken his time and spent some weeks tracking and observing Janie, intent on not being discovered too early. It hadn't been much of a challenge since all he had to do was to track his brother who recently had begun meeting with the girl all the time. What a nice coincidence.

This night, he decided the time had come. He had followed both of them once again to that odd, yellow boat, waiting patiently until they finally had gone aboard. They vanished inside, and then Snake teleported aboard, too, just as the boat started moving. Blades extended and his trusty blaster in one hand, he grinned at Janie, ignoring Julian for now.

"Hello there."

Janie was in a really good mood that evening. She planned on letting Julian decide where to go before they settled somewhere for a picnic.

She was at the wheel when she noticed Snake. Her hand went for her blaster, unfortunately it was by the computer and not at her side.

"...What are you doing here?"

Julian had been looking forward to this evening, too, because the trips with Janie's boat were something he always enjoyed. He was stowing away the bag with food and other picnic utensils when he heard a voice.
Realizing belatedly who it belonged to, he spun around and stared at Snake, perplexed.

"Want to guess?" Snake smiled and aimed his blaster at Janie.

"And you --", he added, pointing at Julian without even looking at him, "-- stay where you are."

"Let him go." Janie said, trying to figure a way out without abandoning Julian. "Let him leave and you and I can battle. You will lose."

Of course, Julian did not stay. Snake obviously didn't consider him dangerous enough to pay attention to him, and Julian wouldn't waste this opportunity.
He slowly let go of the bag, raised his hands as if to surrender -- and charged.

"I don't want to battle, I want to win a bet."

Snake didn't have to look. He knew his brother well enough to anticipate his move, and teleporting out of the way was easy. He re-manifested just one step to the side and lashed out with his blades, intercepting Julian's attack and smashing him against the wall of the boat.

"A bet?" she asked, then watched as Julian charged. Janie immeadeatly manifested at his side, glaring at Snake.

"You don't belong on this boat. Just go, let us have this one last fun and you can come back later and do whatever."

Later, she'd be prepared for it.

Julian tried to scramble to his feet again, but it proved difficult and took him some time. The blades had caught him across the chest and while the cuts weren't fatal, they hurt and hindered his movement.

"A bet. Someone told me you were impossible to kill; I'll prove him wrong."

He didn't flinch when Janie teleported, instead, he sneered down at her.

"Come on, I gave you weeks! Don't you think that's enough? Well, I do."

With that, he fired at her.

"Someone- nevermind." Janie sighed, worried about Julian, but also wanting to hurt Snake enough so that he'd leave.

"Why-" She didn't finish the question because Snake fired without warning. She just barely managed to escape the blast as she rushed to get her blaster.

Julian watched in horror as Snake fired. When he saw Janie escaping narrowly, he moved in the direction opposite of her, making it impossible for Snake to keep both of them in sight.
"Let her go! She hasn't done anything to you!"

Snake ignored his brother's pathetic plea, of course. Concentrating on his main target, he fired again, attempting to destroy Janie's blaster before she could reach it.

A fraction of a second too late to save her blaster, Janie knew she was in trouble. Her weapons were in her room, and she'd had a drink not long ago.

The best she would be able to do was demanifest so that she was behind Snake, and try to hit him with her fists.

Julian grimaced as he saw the blaster being destroyed, knowing that it had been their best chance against Snake by far.

His only weapons were his claws and the small blade he carried since Phoenix had provided him with the poison to coat it with. It was supposed to hurt the witch, but he knew it wouldn't be pleasant for Snake either, so he silently drew the blade and moved closer.

Snake took the first punches and turned around. Obviously he wasn't bothered too much by it, as he smiled, confident of victory.

"Is that all?" he mocked her. "Where are your pretty blades, girl?"

Summon. Janie could summon one of her swords- she wasn't sure why she didn't think of that first.

"Right here". She said, taking the sword and stabbing him-

It wasn't a sword. It was a salami. Her summoning skills were terrible and she rarely got the item that she needed on the first try.

He sneaked closer, unable to see what was going on, but he hoped that Janie could keep Snake busy for a moment longer. Most likely Snake had seen him already, but that didn't matter, Julian had to try ...

In the meanwhile, Snake looked down at the salami Janie had thrust against his chest, and broke into laughter.

"Really? What the hell are you--"

That was when he felt a real stab into his back and jerked around.

Once she saw the salami, Janie tried again to summon a sword. This time she was successful, and tried stabbing Snake when he jerked around to see Julian.

As Snake turned to face him, Julian lost his grip on the blade. Disarmed, he made a step backwards, hoping for Janie to finish the job.

It wasn't the first stab he'd received, but this one had an odd, burning sensation to it. Nevertheless, Snake ignored it for now, he had to focus on regaining control over the situation.

He couldn't see Janie's attack, he just felt another stab and vanished, reappeared a few feet away and fired his blaster multiple times.

For a few moments, it seemed like she would avoid the blaster. Janie had a good grip on her sword and was about to charge at Snake with it when she got hit.

She charged anyway, ignoring where the blaster hit her side, focusing on getting Snake.

The first shots he was able to evade with a quick jump to the side. But nevertheless he wasn't fast enough and got hit in the leg, which made his evasive move an uncontrolled fall to the ground.

Snake raised his blades and readied himself to ward off Janie's sword. At least one of his wounds felt severe, but he was determined to finish this.

Holding her sword up, then unsuccessfully trying to attack Snake, she knew that Julian was down. That she was armed with a single sword and that trying to summon anything else might mean defeat.

That couldn't happen. She made another jab, almost certain Snake would block it.
